51 year old blind athlete Nancy Stevens recently accomplished the 1st female blind ascent of the Grand Teton. After 2 days of training at the Exum practice site at Hidden Falls, and an approach day that led to a night camping on the lower saddle , Nancy, accompanied by TAS’s Ryan Burke, Exum Mountain Guides Jessica Baker, Brendan Burns, Dana Larkin, and 2 of Nancy’s friends, summited the Grand Teton via the Owen-Spalding route. “It was so much more than I thought it would be” exclaimed Nancy after a safe return to the valley floor. Nancy is a well seasoned athlete, skiing with the Paralympic team and riding a tandem bike across America, among many other accomplishments. Congratulations Nancy!
