Summer Program Manager Ryan Burke and a group of TAS participants recently joined with TreeFight to help protect the struggling Whitebark Pine. The day began with a ride up the tram at JH Mountain Resort, then a demanding hike down to the gondola. Along the way, TreeFight staff educated the group on the plight of the struggling Whitebark Pine and what can be done to help. Whitebark pines are loosing ground under an attack from the pine beetle and an invasive fungus. TAS tree fighters attached over 50 pouches of a pheromone that tricks the beetles, protecting the trees. Good work TAS crew!
